Guided Wave Phased Array Probes

Guided wave phased array probes can be used in conjunction with the UltraWave LRT platform and guided wave phased array (GWPA) software to inspect large areas of plates and shells from a single probe position.  These probes use multiple patent-pending technologies to generate radar-like scans in plates and shells. Beam steering algorithms are used to create a focal beam, which can be automatically swept around the plate to detect wall loss, cracks, and structural features. Rather than using a time-consuming C-scanner to inspect the structure, a rapid assessment can be performed from a single position with these probes.

Advantages

  • Small footprint
  • Large-area coverage from a single position
  • Insensitive to liquid loading on the surface of the structure
  • Capable of detecting far-side corrosion
