About Guidedwave

The mission of Guidedwave is to become the leading ultrasonic guided wave innovations company, with technology transfer and product development efforts for NDE and SHM in pipeline, rail, aviation, power generation, manufacturing, civil infrastructure, and military products. We strive to develop strategic partnerships in a variety of different areas via licensing, fabrication, software development, and in service inspection. Our utilization of advanced hybrid analytical-FEM computational methods and wave mechanics modeling in “theoretically-driven” sensor design and software development combined with unprecedented vast experience in ultrasonic guided waves allows us to accomplish this goal.

Guidedwave started as a mainly SBIR/STTR funded company developing unique solutions for government agencies. Many of these development projects led to the core capabilities that allow us to provide solutions today. Although SBIR/STTR activity is still a large part of what we do, we have slowly transitioned to more product development and private industry contracts. Through the years, Guidedwave has had the opportunity to work with and create lasting partnerships with many large and small companies. In addition to private and government development contracts, Guidedwave was also directly involved in inspection services for multiple years before forming a partnership with Structural Integrity Associates.

Our founder, Dr. Joseph Rose, was one of the first researchers in the early 1980s to use guided wave dispersion curves to solve practical problems. Dr. Rose is currently the author of nearly twenty patents, four text books, and over 600 articles on ultrasonic NDE, wave mechanics, medical ultrasound, adhesive bonding, concrete inspection, pipe and tubing inspection, composite material inspection, ice detection, structural health monitoring, signal processing, and pattern recognition.
