TrainingMountainGuidedwave offers a wide range of training courses for users of our guided wave inspection systems as well as customized training courses to suit your needs. Training courses are offered at Guidedwave’s facilities just outside of State College, PA, in the heart of Happy Valley. Guidedwave is located just minutes from The Pennsylvania State University and the University Park Airport, which offers direct flights to and from Washington, D.C., Chicago, Detroit, and Philadelphia. Located in central Pennsylvania, Guidedwave is also less than 3 hours driving distance from Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. and less than 4 hours driving distance from New York City and Philadelphia. Training courses can also be performed at your facility in most cases.

 

Training courses available:

  • UltraWave Long-Range Pipe Inspection Level 1
    • Level 1 inspector training course for the UltraWave LRT long-range guided wave pipe inspection system offered by Olympus. The Level 1 course provides guided wave inspectors with knowledge and hands-on experience with basic guided wave theory, operation of the UltraWave hardware and software, data collection procedures, and basic data analysis for basic pipe configurations. The course comprises lectures, in-class data review, hands-on data collection, and independent data review, and concludes with examinations.
  • UltraWave Long-Range Pipe Inspection Level 2
    • Level 2 inspector training course for the UltraWave LRT long-range guided wave pipe inspection system offered by Olympus. The Level 2 provides guided wave inspectors with knowledge and hands-on experience with advanced theory, data collection procedures, and data analysis for basic advanced pipe configurations. Participants will also receive preliminary instruction in the inspection of attenuative coated and buried lines, cased road crossings, and other advanced testing scenarios. The course comprises lectures, in-class data review, hands-on data collection, and independent data review, and concludes with examinations.
  • Guided Wave Phased Array for Plate/Shell Inspection
    • Inspector training course for guided wave phased array (GWPA) applications in plate and shell structures. This training course provides guided wave inspectors with knowledge and hands-on experience with basic guided wave theory, operation of the GWPA hardware and software, data collection procedures, and basic data analysis for standard plate and shell configurations. The course comprises lectures, in-class data review, hands-on data collection, and independent data review.
  • Medium-Range Scanner Level 1
    • Inspector training course for MRUT scanner applications in pipe, plate, and shell structures. This training course provides guided wave inspectors with knowledge and hands-on experience with basic guided wave theory, operation of the MRUT hardware and software, data collection procedures, and basic data analysis for basic scan configurations. The course comprises lectures, in-class data review, hands-on data collection, and independent data review, and concludes with examinations.
  • Guided Wave 3-Day Course
    • The shorter version of our general guided wave course designed for NDT technicians, engineers, managers, and executives that are seeking a general understanding of the advantages, challenges, and exciting potential for guided wave inspection. The curriculum focuses on conceptual understanding and hands-on experience with respect to a wide range of guided wave applications.
  • Guided Wave 5-Day Course
    • The longer version of our general guided wave course designed for NDT technicians, engineers, managers, and executives that are seeking a more thorough theoretical and conceptual understanding of guided waves and their applications in industry. The curriculum focuses on the same material as the 3-day version of the course, but with more emphasis on the details of guided wave phenomena and signal processing.
  • Custom Training
    • Guidedwave also offers custom training courses for ultrasonic guided wave applications to meet the specific needs of its customers. These courses can be provided at Guidedwave’s facilities near State College, PA or travel may be arranged for on-site training at your facility. Examples of instances in which custom training courses may be developed include:
      • Courses addressing specific guided wave inspection applications using commercially-available technologies
      • Courses to accompany deliver of a custom-developed Guidedwave product
      • Short courses on guided wave theory, applications, or systems
